You’ve probably noticed that a few online suppliers advertise some Blue Sea products at 10 – 15% less than other retailers. How do they do it?
Blue Sea offer 2 variants of their products, ‘retail’ and ‘trade’. While the actual product is the same, we are supposed to sell retail products to the general public and trade products to the trade (or to those who are site members).
So if the products are the same, what’s the difference? The retail products are supplied in moulded plastic packaging and are designed to be displayed in a retail environment. They’re ok if you’re only buying the odd item or Two, but if you’re doing a fit-out, you soon end up with a pile of waste plastic to dispose of.
Trade pack, by comparison, is basically either a recyclable card box, some biodegradable bubble wrap, or a small brown envelope.
Importantly, when buying trade packed, depending on the product, you don’t get the labels, mounting template/cut-out dimensions, installation instructions etc, although these are available on the bluesea.com website.
If you’d like to buy Blue Sea products at trade prices, simply sign up for an account. Not only can you save a few £££’s, but you also earn loyalty points on every purchase and get to save the planet from plastic one pack at a time.
